The UConn Huskies will enter women’s March Madness as favorites to win a record-extending 13th national championship. Geno Auriemma’s team had -270 odds to win it all when the bracket was revealed, the shortest odds for a pre-tournament favorite since 2018, which was also the last time UConn was favored entering the Big Dance.
There is a huge gap to the next team, the UCLA Bruins, who show +550 odds of winning the NCAA Tournament. The next four are dominated by the SEC between Texas (+700), South Carolina (+800), LSU (16-1, opened 14-1) and Vanderbilt (50-1). Duke (75-1) and Michigan (80-1) round out the teams shorter than 100-1.
UConn, UCLA and South Carolina have been fan favorites all season, garnering 57.4% of futures at BetMGM. The short odds on these teams throughout the season won’t cause many headaches for sports bettors, but BetMGM is reporting commitments on Michigan and Vanderbilt.
