Manchester United Women eased into the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 5-0 aggregate win over Atletico Madrid.
The Red Devils will now face Bayern Munich in the last eight of their debut campaign in the competition.
Head coach Marc Skinner discussed the match in his post-game interview with the club’s official website.
Marc Skinner 100 wins
Skinner was asked to comment on what was his 100th win in charge of the Red Devils.
He answered, “yeah, I mean, you know me — I always put the team first, so let’s talk about the team. It’s nice to reach 100 wins, and hopefully there are many more.”
Skinner went on, “tonight, I felt they were fantastic. There were moments early on where we had to feel the game out a little bit because Atletico attacked and left lots of space. If we were ruthless, we could have put the game to bed earlier. But we’re always resilient in defending — we block, we put our bodies on the line.”

He also went on to lavish his side with praise, claiming, “I was speaking to the commentators and we just have this incredible spirit. I don’t think many teams have it. It’s unique to us.”
Skinner also explained that “to win eight in a row now, and to beat a team as good as Atleti 5–0 on aggregate, shows the special group we have and the special thing we’re building here.”
Praise for fans
Skinner also took the time to praise the fans for their role in the club’s recent success.
He beamed, “they were incredible. Not just in Madrid, but brilliant here tonight. And let’s be clear — they0re the 12th woman, man and child. They were everything. I’m going to ask them again — we need to go again Sunday.”
Chelsea test
Skinner’s side will face Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in the fifth round of the FA Cup, and commenting on the game he said, “we’ve got a really tough tie, so we need them in our corner. They mean the world to us. To keep creating history for them and to hear them singing, ‘we’re going on a European tour and we’re continuing it,’ honestly, it makes you emotional as a coach.”
The match will kick off at 13:30 GMT on Sunday afternoon.
