Casemiro has rolled back the years with Manchester United this season and is currently one of the first names on the team sheet. The Brazilian arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 and enjoyed a blistering debut campaign.
However, his form dipped in his second season, and he was famously excluded from the squad for the FA Cup final against Manchester City, which the Red Devils won 2-1. Casemiro fought his way back into contention last season, and cemented his place under former head coach Ruben Amorim this campaign.
Following the Portuguese’s departure, the 33 year old has retained his place under caretaker manager Michael Carrick. However, he has already announced that he will leave United once his contract expires this summer.
The situation has prompted the English giants to consider replacements, and it now appears that they are ready to knock on Real Madrid’s door once again to address the situation.
United want Eduardo Camavinga
According to reports in Spain via TEAMtalk, United have identified Eduardo Camavinga as the ideal candidate to fill Casemiro’s shoes at the Theatre of Dreams. The Red Devils are already keeping an eye on several Premier League-proven candidates for the role, including Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, and Sandro Tonali.
However, the English giants are also long-term admirers of Camavinga, having monitored him since his time with Rennes. The Peoples Person relayed reports last year that the Frenchman was on their radar, and the fresh report now adds that they have rekindled that interest.
The Red Devils are now prioritising a move for Camavinga, as they believe he is the right profile to replace Casemiro. The report adds that Los Blancos are willing to let the 23 year old leave for €75 million this summer.
The LaLiga giants reportedly feel Camavinga has failed to live up to expectations at the Santiago Bernabeu. They are aware of the rising interest in their prized asset and believe the time is right to cash in on him.
Camavinga’s time at Real Madrid
Real Madrid fought off stiff competition for Camavinga’s signature in 2021, and he was expected to help in the succession plans for the iconic trio of Casemiro, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric. Unfortunately, the Frenchman has been in and out of the starting XI so far, with his development hampered by injuries.
Camavinga has missed 52 games for club and country since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, when fit, he is a key member of Los Blancos’ squad, especially since he can also fill in at left-back. This season, the Frenchman has registered two goals and one assist in 28 appearances in all competitions, 16 of which have been starts.

Camavinga has been heavily involved under Alvaro Arbeloa, but with Real Madrid expected to sign a new midfielder this summer, the player’s future remains unclear. However, if he continues his recent upward trajectory, the LaLiga giants could be tempted to hold on to him.
The Frenchman has previously revealed that he is living the dream at the Santiago Bernabeu, so the Red Devils may have to be at their convincing best to get this deal across the line.
Final Thoughts
United have several Premier League-proven candidates on their wish list to fill Casemiro’s shoes at Old Trafford, who are likely to cost as much as Camavinga and can also hit the ground running. The Frenchman’s injury record will also be a cause for concern, so the Red Devils will have to consider their options carefully before making a final decision on the matter.
