Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown said he is “thinking” about the idea of competing in combat sports once his professional basketball career is over.
Brown, 29, told reporters at NBA All Star Game media day on Saturday that he spoke with UFC CEO Dana White, an avid Celtics fan, about the matter.
“To be honest, I’ve thought about this and talked to some people,” said Brown, who trains in Muay Thai. “Maybe after part of my career, I’d like to get involved in something like the UFC or even boxing. I’ve talked to Dana White about some things, but we’ll see as things go on. We’ll see.”
Brown is a five-time NBA All-Star and 2024 NBA Finals MVP. His head coach, Joe Mazzola, is also a well-known mixed martial arts fan, has attended numerous UFC events and said he often shows his team fight footage as teaching tools.
