Dino Beganovic delivered under pressure to earn the first Formula 2 pole position of 2026.
The DAMS Lucas Oil driver set the initial pace but Campos Racing then delivered improvements with Noel León and then Nikola Tsolov, who took over P1 with a 1:29.381.
The session was then impacted by two red flags, the first coming as a result of an error from Mari Boya at Turn 10 that left the Spaniard in the barriers.
The second arrived inside the final 10 minutes with Gabriele Minì coming to a halt on track with an issue on his MP Motorsport car. That resulted in the session running to time, leaving just three minutes on the clock as the light went green again.
Beganovic, who had slipped back in the order in the middle phase of the session, rebounded in impressive fashion, delivering a 1:28.695 on his final attempt to take his second F2 pole position and start his 2026 campaign on the best possible note.
Rodin Motorsport enjoyed a strong Qualifying, with rookie Martinius Stenshorne P2 ahead of Alex Dunne in third. Both drivers had gone quickest prior to Beganovic’s final lap.
Behind the top trio, Campos were fourth and fifth with Leon ahead of teammate Tsolov in the top five.
Reigning Formula 3 Champion Rafael Camara wound up sixth for Invicta Racing ahead of Kush Maini, Oliver Goethe, Joshua Duerksen and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak in P10.
