ARLINGTON, Texas – IndyCar officials had to throw a red flag to slow cars as they pulled out of the pit area during practice Saturday when three workers were spotted on the hot track.

No one was injured.

Practices for the inaugural Grand Prix at Arlington resumed after a delay of several minutes as IndyCar officials examined the temporary 2.73-mile, 14-turn circuit on the streets surrounding the stadiums of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.

The television broadcast showed the three workers who appeared to be part of the catering crew. Someone was pushing a catering cart into a spot between AT&T Stadium, the Cowboys’ home, and the nearby hospitality area.

The cars practicing for Sunday’s race had not yet reached speed when the track violation was spotted.
