Wales play host to Scotland in Cardiff on Saturday after the visitors sealed Calcutta Cup victory last weekend
Former Scotland international Jim Hamilton says no Welsh players would get in Gregor Townsend’s side currently, despite being impressed with several members of Steve Tandy’s squad.
Tandy will come up against former boss Townsend in Cardiff this weekend, as he looks to spring a surprise against Scotland after a brutal start to this year’s Six Nations. Wales’ opening two matches against England and France have seen them concede 102 points and 15 tries, with their losing streak in the championship now nearing the three-year mark.
After Scotland slipped up against Italy in their tournament opener, there were suggestions that this weekend’s meeting in Cardiff would be Wales’ best opportunity to pick up a result.

But Townsend’s side looked like a team reborn against England as they stole back the Calcutta Cup in a style with a 31-20 win at Murrayfield last weekend, and Hamilton expects Saturday’s visitors to the Principality Stadium to get the job done again.
And while both coaches have some top talents in their squads, the Premier Sports pundit admits that no Welsh player would be able to force themselves into the current Scotland side, which boasts high-quality Tests players around the park.
“No,” the former lock told WalesOnline when asked if any Wales players would get in Townsend’s team. “With all due respect, no. I said the same about England though, and I got a load of stick!”

Hamilton’s blunt honesty is not to say that he hasn’t been impressed with some of the “quality” talent he says Wales have at their disposal, with one player in particular standing out.
“Aaron Wainwright, I’m a big fan of him,” he said. “I’ve always liked him as a player and I thought he might have gone on the Lions tour, that’s how highly I rate him.
“Taine Plumtree, when he’s come on, has looked good,” Hamilton continued. “I’m a big fan of Tomos Williams and Ellis Mee and I love Louis Rees-Zammit. He is a freak athlete.
“Dafydd Jenkins as well, he’s been really good for Exeter this year and I’m a big fan of him. Wales have got some quality players and I’ve named a few there but I’m yet to see something where they’ve put it all together.”

Giving his score prediction for Saturday’s showdown at the Principality Stadium, the 63-cap international said: “I actually think Wales will score a couple of tries. They scored four tries against New Zealand, four tries against Argentina and scored a couple against France at the weekend.
“It will be a high scoring game, I think this Scotland team are phenomenal in attack, with a dry ball. I’m going to go 42-20.
“I’m a fan of Wales and I hope they come good. I love Steve Tandy and the players are wicked, I really feel for what they’re going through. But that’s sport, eh? It works in cycles.”
