Speaking on talkSPORT, Davies said the fight has been signed privately with plans still being finalized for when the event will take place.

“The Fury-Joshua fight is signed,” Davies said. “Okay, it is signed in the background. I’ve got that on good authority.”

Davies added that the bout is expected to be broadcast on Netflix and could take place late this year or possibly early next year, depending on Anthony Joshua’s recovery timeline and return to full training.

Joshua’s immediate plans remain uncertain following the serious car crash he survived in Nigeria late last year. The accident tragically claimed the lives of two members of his team, strength coach Sina Ghami and trainer Lateef “Latz” Ayodele.

The former two-time heavyweight champion has only recently begun light training as he works toward a return to the ring.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn previously confirmed that the original plan involved Joshua fighting earlier in the year before targeting Fury later in the summer.

“Originally the plan with AJ was for him to fight in March and then fight Tyson Fury in August,” Hearn told BoxingScene.

However, Joshua’s recovery pushed those timelines back.

“He’s not going to fight Tyson Fury next; he’s going to come back, I believe, in late summer,” Hearn said. “Physically he’s not yet in a position to return so I’m planning and he’s just resting and preparing.”

Hearn explained that the priority is bringing Joshua back safely before committing to a major heavyweight clash.

“I’m looking at options to get him back in the ring in July but we will only know if that’s a real possibility when he returns to camp,” Hearn said.

Tyson Fury, meanwhile, is already scheduled to fight again. The former heavyweight champion will face Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in a bout broadcast globally on Netflix.

That fight could serve as the first step toward the long-discussed showdown with Joshua.

If both heavyweights return to winning form, the fight that has hovered over the division for years may finally reach the ring.
