Free agent wide receiver Calvin Austin III is signing a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million with the New York Giants, agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.
The Giants lost wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson this week in free agency. Robinson followed former Giants coach Brian Daboll, now the Titans’ offensive coordinator, to Tennessee.
One of just two players who played out his rookie contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers from their underwhelming seven-man 2022 draft class, Austin recorded three touchdowns and 372 receiving yards on 31 catches in an injury-shortened 2025 season.
Austin missed three games with a shoulder injury suffered in the Steelers’ win against the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland when he threw a block that freed up DK Metcalf’s path for a long touchdown.
Though he checks in at just 5-foot-9, Austin has earned a reputation as a scrappy, fearless receiver capable of playing wide or in the slot.
The former fourth-round pick missed his entire rookie season with a foot injury suffered in training camp. After a quiet 2023 season, Austin established himself as a speedy deep threat in 2024 and recorded four touchdown catches and 548 receiving yards, averaging 15.2 yards per reception.
In three seasons, the Memphis product has amassed 1,110 yards and eight touchdowns on 84 catches.
